Not All That Jazzy Razzamatazz & Razzle-Dazzle My experience of Jazz is limited by the boundaries of Old Gold Standards on the one hand, Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Billie Holliday; and the New World Jazz on the other, the New Tango, New Flamenco, New Fado, New Cabaret, New Klezmer, and a few assorted unclassifiables: the Middle Eastern improvisations of Anouar Brahem, the Minimalist Experiments of Yann Tierssen, the always Neo-Mystical Troubadorship of Leonard Cohen. Anybody else groovingly stuck in or struck with these quietly groovy grooves? (I will, however, take that jazzy razzamatazz & razzle-dazzle with Chicago or Cabaret and that Shakespeherian Rag with Cleo Laine.) (N.B. Photo was taken in July 1992!)
