In brief, here are a few that drive me crazy: John Coltrane and the classic Coltrane quartet; Bill Evans, especially earlier stuff and of course Scott Lafaro; Sonny Rollins; Art Blakey; Monk--of course!; Miles, mostly for the players he discovered over the decades; Billy Holiday; Duke and his crazy sounding sidemen...oh etc.
